This is how I make balls out of cotton fabric strips!
You can use it in your knitting, crochet, weaving, macramé projects… So, from now, don’t throw away any fabric piece, whether it’s an old piece of clothing or of bedding. That would be like throw away gold 😀
The width of the strips depends on the tutorial: follow the given instructions.
In this tutorial I’ll demontrate how I did the ball for this cute crochet bag:
Iron the fabric if necessary.
Cut 3/4 inch wide strips. Don’t keep any seams or hems or any piece other than just fabric.
Superimpose 2 strips.
Fold the ends.
Cut a slit.
Separate the 2 strips, and now put them on top of one other but the ends are apart. Superimpose the slits.
Take the upward strip, insert it go through both slits. No need to tighten too enthusiastically ! You may tear the fabric if you do.
Keep going! You can start crocheting as soon as you have a few meters: the great thing is that you can keep adding strips as you go along.
Since I used 3 different prints, I mixed them and almost never put 2 identical ones in a row. That means I did have to cut all the strips before crocheting.
